La Basilique du Sacré Cœur de Montmartre is located in the 10th arrondissement. The beautiful skies of Monmontre yeild amazing views of Paris. It is on a steep incline, but the views of Paris are worth it! Expect security and at times, long lines. La Basilique is about a 15-20 minutes walk from Gare du Nord / Poissonnière. Entrance is free, but there is a fee to enter the dome. There are plenty of shops and restaurants behind Sacré-Coeur. 35 Rue du Chevalier de la Barre, 75018 Paris. Metro lines, 2, 4, and 12 surround Sacré-Coeur.


Le roi Louis XVI et la reine Marie-Antoinette . . . the revolution

. . . Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were buried in the former Madeleine Cemetery after they were guillotined during the French Revolution.

Chapelle Expiatoire . . .

The Chapelle Expiatoire (above) was partly constructed on the grounds of the former Madeleine Cemetery and is dedicated to Louis XVI and his wife, Marie Antoinette. The crypt contains a black and white marble altar that marks the place where Louis XVI was found. There is a fee to enter. It is a few minutes walk from La Madeleine. 29 Rue Pasquier, 75008 Paris. Notre-Dame de Paris . . .

Notre-Dame de Paris means
Our Lady of Paris“. It is a medieval Catholic cathedral which is located in the 4th arrondissement on Île de la Cité. Construction began in 1163. Approximately 12 million people visit Notre-Dame annually, making it the most visited monument in Paris. It is walkable from Sainte-Chapelle. Notre Damn is temporarily closed due to a fire from Apr. 15, 2019 to Apr. 16, 2019. Metro Line 4, Cité.
